Grandma

Grandma was extremely talented at sewing and hand made Peter and I so many things over the years. These included a wide range of dressing up outfits when we were young, a beautiful play mat for my daughter Amelie and a fantastic quilt she made me last year which took her months. She also came to my aide just before my wedding when I couldn't find any nice sashes for my bridesmaids. The sashes she hand made for them were beautiful and received a lot of compliments on the day.

I remember visiting her in all the various houses she lived in. I remember The Old Priory, where Peter and I were sure we could hear bells ringing in the night and were convinced it was ghosts! Also the house with the pond in the garden where Peter and I would spend ages trying to catch all the tadpoles and frogs. It was always an adventure exploring each new place!

We enjoyed quite a few day trips with Grandma in recent years, visiting the Science Museum, Chartwell and Knole Park. She was always fascinated with learning the history of places. She was also able to meet my daughter, her great-granddaughter, Amelie on quite a few occasions. Amelie, despite spending lot of the first few months being very wary and unsettled around strangers, was always very content around grandma and didn't even cry when she held her! I don't think grandma believed me when i told her that Amelie usually objected quite strongly to new people. She did say to me, well you wouldn't want a pudding would you? I try and remind myself of that whenever Amelie is having an off day!
